BASB Challenge: Use Cardstock Only

Nothing very exciting to banter about on this day, so I will just share a layout I made this past weekend. This layout was made for the current BASB challenge - Use Cardstock Only. I thought it would be easy, it wasn't. I found I rely on embellishments more than creativity. Such a sad discovery. LOL! I wanted something unique on the layout, so I used "power" tools - a hammer. Wouldn't it have been something, if I said a table saw? ;o) I wound thin strips of cardstock, glued them and then smashed them with a hammer to make them thinner. I think I had a lot of frustration that day. So that is that. Just a simple layout that took me over a week to make. I am a scrapping wuss. The BASB Challenge is still running. If you wish to join in and possibly win the February Scarlet Lime kit, you have until February 28th at 12 midnight EST to do so.

Valentines and Other Things Mushy

The items above were slapped together for the current challenge at BASB. Mye's challenge is to create a valentine's card and gift bag. The only stipulation the bag has to be made of cardstock or pattern paper. Pretty easy challenge, so if interested check it out and join in. I have to give credit to Davinie. I had the bones of the "bag" completed, but had no idea how to pretty it up. Well...until I saw her tutorial on Studio Calico on how to make paper roses. The template for the "bag" came from the destruction of a heart "bag" I had laying around the house. Yep...it gave it's life for a higher cause. Whatever that is. If anyone is interested in seeing the shape of the template, let me know and I can post it here or email a photo. Whatever works.

So that is it. I know the title implied that there was Valentines and other mush stuff, so in other words more than what you got, but sometimes less is more. That, my friend, is my gift to you today. Less of my ramblings. It's a good thing. Have a wonderful weekend!
